System Requirements
Macintosh Requirements:
The current versions of our software run best on a Power PC G3 or better and OSX, 10.2.5 or higher.
Client Manager and Speech Visualization require OSX, 10.3.9 or higher.
Older versions work on Power PCs running OS7, OS8, OS9, or OSX in Classic Mode (10.2.5 and above).
Older Power PCs will run the software but it will be very slow.
Windows Requirements: The current versions of our software run best with a Pentium III or better chip and Windows 95/98/ME or Windows NT/2000/XP. Our preliminary tests indicate that our software runs fine on Vista but you may have permissions issues when installing. See this page for details.
Very old versions of our software will run on Windows 3.1 but not NT/2000/XP.
Speech Visualization requires a least a 900MHz Pentium III - a Pentium IV or better is recommended. The visualization of recordings may not be in real time on slower machines. Playback of pre-recorded sounds will be choppy if the program is not installed to the hard disk.
Memory Requirements
RAM and Hard drive space are not really an issue for most users, but the programs do need around 12MB of available RAM. They prefer to have 64MB. You can install a shortcut using as little as 3-4MB of Hard Disk space. A full install will take between 100 MB and 680 MB or hard disk space—depending on the title.
Permissions
As a general rule you do not need Admin privileges to install or run LocuTour software. Many computers in schools have higher levels of security set by the administration and will require admin privileges to install the program. You _will_ need Admin privileges to install the program in Vista. You should not need admin privileges to run the program.
The only thing that might cause a problem would be if for some reason you are restricted from writing to the users TEMP directory, since we use it for storing preferences and recordings. Permissions can be tricky but, in general, you should be able to install and use the program if your administrator gives you full access to the Macromedia directory: C:Winnt\System32\Macromed\ for Win 2000 and NT, and C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed for XP.
License
Basically you may install the software on one computer at a time. Licensee’s who are Speech Pathologist’s may install a full copy of the Software on multiple computers provided the software is being used by only one person at any time. (e.g. An itinerant SLP may install the software on computers at each school they visit if the software will only be used when they are at the school.) Link
Web Site Requirements
The on-line exercises require either Adobe Flash® or Adobe Shockwave®. If you don't have the plug-in installed, you will be prompted to go to Adobe's site and download it. The on-line demos require Shockwave. Portions of the site use Javascript. Most browsers have Javascript turned on by default—if not turn it on in your preferences tab.
All of the pages on this site comply with HTML standards for interoperable Web pages. If pages display oddly, please use a standards-compliant browser. We use Firefox and Safari and the site has been tested on Opera, Konqueror, and Flock.
